Wonderful Breastfeeding “Call Me Maybe” Parody Video

It will probably be a long time before breastfeeding is publicly acceptable, but there are groups making great strides to get people talking about it. After partnering up with a group known as “Building a Breastfeeding Environment” or BaBE, a few students from St. Francis Xavier University put together this video parody of Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.”

I do wish they could have used real mothers actually breastfeeding their children, but the message is still conveyed well. The chorus goes: “I haven’t met you, but it’s not crazy, cause I’m a mother feeding my baby.” It’s sung as if she’s talking to some offended person asking her to cover up.

I also like the repeated use of, “Are my breasts in your way?” People often treat breastfeeding women as if their breasts are blocking their view, but the only view they’re blocking is society’s view on how our breasts are supposed to be used. For some reason that doesn’t include feeding our babies.
