Breast Friends
It’s common for breastfeeding moms to worry if they’re producing enough milk to feed their little ones, but sometimes problems do arise. What if your baby is unable to latch correctly, or you really are unable to produce enough milk, and your little one doesn’t gain weight or grow? Where do you turn? Mother Elisa Albert found a solution, and allowed her friend to breastfeed her child.
Elisa shares her incredible story at The Guardian. It starts with a somewhat traumatic birth experience. While her husband and doula were very supportive, her midwife didn’t show up until minutes before she gave birth and acted very cold, like it was no big deal. Elisa breastfed almost constantly, but soon her baby began losing weight, and no matter where she turned she was unable to find help.
Until a friend, who’d recently given birth herself, offered to nurse her baby. Through the help of her close female friend-turned-midwife, Elisa worked hard to develop her own solid breastfeeding routine. What a touching and emotional experience!
