Women Shaming Women for Breastfeeding?

Even though women have made great strides toward equality, we still have a long way to go. Breastfeeding in public is a hot issue, but it’s not just men fueling the fire. There are plenty of women shaming breastfeeding mothers too.

In this article from Metro News, mother Kristen Thompson has a great opinion piece about how natural and important breastfeeding is, and how women need to stop shaming other women in order to stop perpetuating the idea that breastfeeding is “gross.”

Kristen was modest while breastfeeding her daughter even if she didn’t always cover up, but I was surprised to read that the people she encountered who had a problem with public breastfeeding were always women.

We’re great at judging each other over the smallest things, but breastfeeding is something we should all celebrate. Don’t take offense if you were unable or chose not to breastfeed your child. Support those who can and who do!
