Keep Your Clingy Baby Close

Your baby’s first steps are a big milestone, and soon they’ll be running all over the place… or maybe not. It might be tempting to push your little one to walk once they are able, but denying them intimacy when they most need it could be detrimental in the long run.

This story by Jessica Martin-Weber at The Leaky Boob describes her experience raising five children, each with different personalities and needs. Her first child was a late walker, and she now regrets encouraging her to walk due to unfounded fears she might not be developing as quickly as she should.

Some children need a little more time to get used to this big crazy world we live in, and that’s okay. Encourage them, but let them go at their own pace. Enjoy the cuddles while you can, as long as your arms and back hold out anyway!
