Dolly Parton Is Here To Save The Day!
Or at least do her fair share in spreading virtual cheer, that is.
The beloved country music mogul recently announced that she would be launching a new series called “Goodnight With Dolly” on April 2nd, 2020, at 7 pm EST on Parton’s Imagination Library YouTube channel.
The books have been carefully curated by Parton herself to ensure they reflect a certain amount of sensitivity and relevance to the implications of the current coronavirus pandemic. According to Rolling Stone, this limited series will run for a total of 10 weeks.
In a recent interview, Dolly told Rolling Stone the following
“This is something I have been wanting to do for quite a while, but the timing never felt quite right. I think it is pretty clear that now is the time to share a story and to share some love. It is an honor for me to share the incredible talent of these authors and illustrators. They make us smile, they make us laugh and they make us think.”
While reading to kids virtually seems to be becoming a common celebrity undertaking (for which we are thankful), this isn’t the first time Dolly has showcased her passion for children and literacy. Inspired by her father’s inability to read and write, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which was founded in 1995, has since mailed 133,899,247 books to 1,584,904 registered children worldwide.
And although this is only a drop in the bucket of activities needed to fill your children’s day, there has never been a better time to introduce them to America’s sweetheart.
Is Dolly uploading her stories to You Tube so people can see them anytime?
That seems to be the plan!
