Parenting Without Local Grandparents
As an adult raising children of my own, it is great when my parents get to come visit. Often times, the stock the refrigerator with items they enjoy, which allows me to relive my childhood in a way. They are the extra set of hands I often need while raising young children. I wish they lived closer so I could have them over more often. Being isolated from my family is very challenging with children. I enjoy their visits and appreciate the help they lend while they are there.
Key Takeaways:
- Having grandparents available for children is a great help to parents
- Technology has bridged the gap and allowed distant relatives to stay in contact with kids
- Multiple families are trying to find a way to band together once separated from family
“Having my dad around has been like having the third set of hands I desperately wish I could grow.”
