What to Drink (and what to avoid) When You’re Pregnant
Pregnancy means cutting out a lot of popular (and let’s be honest here, really nice) things out of your diet. It can be annoying, yes, and if you’re a fan of sushi, then it’s going to be a loooooong couple of months. But there are more and more discoveries made every year, and they keep finding things that make some of the best drinks ever not kosher for the length of a pregnancy.
Alcohol, we’ve known about forever. It can lead to some serious complications if you drink while still pregnant. But caffeine can have a negative effect as well, which knocks out coffee, tea, and most sodas. And some of the remaining ones are out too, because diet drinks don’t agree either. Even seemingly simple and safe products (certain juices, certain milk, tap water) have been proven to be detrimental.
When you’re pregnant, you have more than just yourself to think of. And sometimes, that means changing your daily schedule a bit. And for some people, who happen to like tea, soda, and wine (i.e. me), it was much tougher than I anticipated.
If it helps? It’s totally worth it.
