Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff, Parenting Edition
As parents, it’s hard not to worry about every little thing our children do. Whether they’re wearing the appropriate clothing when it’s cold out, sucking on a pacifier longer than you think they should be, making friends in preschool that will shape their young adult life (positively or negatively) for years to come, or eating the right vegetables, it’s hard not to stress about every little aspect of our children’s lives. But the good news is that most of these “issues” are relatively small problems for a child to have, in the grand scheme of things. Here’s the bittersweet reason: the little things you worry about now will continue to get replaced by bigger and bigger things throughout the course of their lives, so you might as well save your worrying for later when it might really matter. We’re only kind of kidding. This post from Baby Center compiled a list of all the seemingly major things that are actually pretty minor that parents of older children wish parents of little ones would stop worrying about.
Some of the biggest little things on the list? Stressing about kindergarteners not turing their homework in on time, worrying if they’ll ever outgrow their tantrum phase (they will) and freaking out over every minor cut and scrape.
