Nightmare of a Naptime
One exhausted mama writes to Alpha Mom about her baby’s nap schedule—or lack thereof. Ever since turning 8 months old, she will not nap. While she sleeps from 12 to 12.5 hours every night, she will not stay still at naptime. They are to the point of not having any fun during the day due to exhaustion.
Alpha Mom is concerned about the number of hours the baby is sleeping at night and thinks that may have something to do with the lack of napping. It is typical for babies to sleep 11 to 11.5 hours per night and using naps to get up to about 14 hours. When a baby gets nearly 13 hours of sleep in one uninterrupted chunk, she will not want to sleep during the day. Alpha Mom encourages this exhausted mama to try one nap during the day because she does in fact need a nap at some point.
