How did your kids handle it when you told them you were going to have another baby? One mom shares her story for a recent article in Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine. Until she reached her 14th week, Anna Thornley kept her questions hypothetical with her 5- and 3- year-old children and dropped hints to get a sense of how they would react. Based on the hints, their reactions were not entirely expected.

While the 5-year-old responded to hints with declarations that she did not want another baby, she was ecstatic when she was told to expect a younger brother or sister in the near future. The 3-year-old wasn’t into the idea of having another sibling either, saying that he liked the 1-year-old and didn’t want any more. He has not mentioned the new baby since he was told, so Thornley and her husband are interested to see how this changes over the next few months.
