Even World Leaders Are Struggling To Work From Home With Kids
If you think working remotely with your kids in tow is tough, can you imagine what it must be like to run a country while self-isolating with children? Well, it turns out that this is an actuality for many world leaders, as recently exemplified by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
When Justin Trudeau’s wife, Sophie, was diagnosed with COVID-19, she immediately began self-quarantining for the recommended minimum of 14 days to avoid infecting her husband and their three children. With no childcare or staff assistance available due to the necessary social-distancing mandates, Justin Trudeau was soon left flying solo when it came to daily parenting tasks such as feeding, entertaining, and trying to safeguard the Canadian economy. No biggie!
Furthermore, apparently being a Prime Minister doesn’t excuse you from having to endure the many plot twists and detours that come with parenting. According to Politico, Justin Trudeau was recently late to an evening conference call with his political staff because, wait for it…
His 6-year-old son Hayden’s bathtime didn’t go as planned. Relatable!
On March 16th, Justin Trudeau tweeted a picture of himself attending a video conference with some other political power players such as President Trump, sitting in his home office adorned with drawings and crafts made by his children.
This morning, I spoke with G7 leaders about COVID-19. This is a global issue, and we are committed to doing all it takes to protect people & support our economies. We will coordinate our responses & take strong action, together. Read our joint statement: https://t.co/pbfAfLSFYR pic.twitter.com/gLUgEhSrW2

And although you may not be running an entire country amidst the coronavirus crisis, running a household is kinda like commanding a little kingdom within itself. So if you find yourself not able to progress on projects, extending arbitrary deadlines, or being tardy to a conference call because of a bathtime emergency, give yourself some grace, mama. What you’re feeling, we’re all feeling.
