A Letter From the Trenches: World War Flu

S.O.S. Send Help

Day 18 of domestic occupation by the merciless regime known as “Influenza B”. Occupation began with highest ranking junior officer falling ill. She was immediately confined to personal quarters and former assignment at educational facility postponed. Due to depleted bodily resources from very recent attack by terrorist group known as “RSV”, said officer remained ill for over 12 days, with small breaks of apparent wellness in which we were fooled into believing we’d recovered the territory. Remaining members of platoon seemed unaffected by occupation.

Second ranking junior officer was no longer able to hold back the enemy line and succumbed to illness on 9 January. Said officer was subject to violent war tactics such as internal heat torch,  atomic nasal secretions, spasmodic lung contractions, and inescapable exhaustion. Second ranking officer slept in personal quarters for 20 hours of a 24 hour tour of duty. Third and fourth ranking junior officer’s territory was overcome in quick succession the following week. Senior Officer of Maternal Affairs attempted to mitigate damage by increasing rations of fluids, frozen juice MREs, and anti-internal heat torch syrup as needed. All junior officers were granted unlimited time spent in upper limbs of Senior Officer of Maternal Affairs.

Current conditions are poor, as territory of Senior Officer of Maternal Affairs has been breached as well. She remains on duty only for essential assignments until territory is recovered. Environment has become hazardous due to fatigues of all officers remaining unlaundered, entertainment plastics and MRE packagings being uncollected as per normal. Morale is low.

Most recent reconnaissance team reports that all territory has been occupied except that of Senior Officer of Paternal Affairs, who steadfastly insists that he remains uncompromised. Lack of appetite and clear presence of exhaustion would suggest otherwise. Platoon must remain vigilant.

Allied troops from region of Macrophagia already infiltrating and expected to regain territory within the week. Special Forces teams B-Cell and T-Cell have been spotted in the distance.

Recommendation: Advanced training on hand disinfecting to prevent future attacks.
