Why jumping in puddles matters. A lot.
When their daughter turned 4 years old, Carolyn asked her how she wanted to celebrate her big day. So, she put on her prettiest pink outfit this was before she officially declared the color pink uncool complete with sparkly headband and ballet tights, and we went outside and did just that. Years later, its still one of my happiest memories. She’s 10 years old now, Carolyn’s little girl, and despite my best efforts to slow it down, time continues to rush by us both.
Key Takeaways:
- When my daughter turned 4 years old, I asked her how she wanted to celebrate her big day. Her answer? By jumping in puddles.
- So, she put on her prettiest pink outfit – this was before she officially declared the color pink uncool – complete with sparkly headband and ballet tights, and we went outside and did just that. The simplest, most forgettable thing in the world.
- I’ve noticed things I would have otherwise rushed right by. I’ve rediscovered all of these familiar, forgotten rituals of childhood. I’ve literally had to stop and smell the roses.
