Saying Goodbye to the Binky
Young children love sucking on their thumbs or some sort of item. This is why Binkys always come to mind, kids love them. Often times they get so attached they can’t do without them grow to old for them. It may take some work, but there is anecdotal evidence to being able to get kids off of them.
Key Takeaways:
- We did it! We have about a month left until Jackson’s third birthday, and I can officially say that we are a pacifier-free home. My goal was to get it done before he turned three, so I’m really thrilled.
- I really had no idea what to expect when it came time to let go of the binky. Jackson hasn’t used it anytime other than naptime and in the car since he was a year old, and we dropped the car binky several months ago.
- We talked about it for a couple of weeks leading up to the big day, and on the day that we were officially dropping the binky, we took Jackson to Build-A-Bear to pick out a new friend.
“Most of the articles I found were for children much younger than Jackson, and most of the ones geared towards older toddlers made it sound like it was incredibly simple and easier than the expected.”
