The Nursing Debate Comes to Target (for some reason)
Well, this is both enraging/inspiring. But first, let me set the scene – we’re in a Target, near the Starbucks/Pizza Hut/Snack Shack, with a nursing mother.
New Connecticut mom Jessie Maher is with her baby, sitting in the cafe and minding her own business. She ends up nursing her baby, when a random stranger says to her, “Can’t you do that somewhere else? That’s f***ing disgusting. You are nasty.”
Jessie defended herself and her actions, but all it did was get the man even angrier. But their confrontation didn’t stay contained for long.
A fellow mother rushed to her defense, getting in between the man (who was becoming increasingly angry with this poor woman) and Jessie. It doesn’t take long for even more concerned shoppers to come to try and help, and even Target employees show up.
The situation was defused and the man stormed out of the store. Jessie was shaken up, but alright after the confrontation.
So, on the one hand. The world is full of jerks, and he’s a good example of that. But on the other? So many people rushed to help this mother rather than let him berate her in public.
And that the internet is uniting behind this mother?
That’s beautiful at least.
