The Problem With Forcing Your Kids to Walk
Do you remember being a kid, and being forced to walk to school? Maybe you missed the bus, or just slept in a little too late. And if you had working parents, this was the sort of thing that meant you were forced to start walking. But now, that sort of thing could get parents into serious trouble… especially if you’re using it to discipline your children.
Lisa Marie Palmer was punishing her children for missing the bus, driving not too far from them. However, she was pulled over by two deputies, and is now facing charges of child neglect for being unable to reach her children immediately in case of emergency.
On one hand, I’m annoyed that a parent is being punished for the simple act of letting children walk to school. But it doesn’t seem like this sort of way to punish your children, especially when you consider that they are under ten and had a total of almost four miles to walk.
