Bully-Shaming
It must be conflicting to find out that your child is a bully. What do you do when you find that out? One mother took to social media for her approach, and she’s caught some backlash for it.
Welsh mother Terry Evans posted a lengthy condemnation of her twelve year old son Jacob for bullying a new girl at his school. She described herself as “absolutely disgusted” by her son’s behavior, and she even went as far as to tag her son in the post, letting him (and all of his friends) see what he had done.
Quickly, the story blew up all across Facebook, with some parents calling Terry a great example, while others condemned her actions. Though she untagged her Jacob from the post and eventually even deleted it entirely, the post was still printed – in full – by Metro.co.uk.
It’s a touchy subject and I can definitely see why this would seem like a good idea. But it seems to not have had the desired effect Terry went looking for, and just opened her (and her son) up to a whole new level of negativity.
