Being a Mother and Having a Job aka I Mean, Obviously
Jennifer Herold, an occupational therapist and mother of two, is running for the Ohio House of Representatives. She went into the campaign, expecting to deal with challenges to her character. But NOT her just being a mother.
Her opponent, incumbent candidate Tom Patton, was speaking with America’s Work Force Radio, and said, “The gal that’s running against me is a 30-year-old, you know, mom, mother of two infants… And I don’t know if anybody explained to her we’ve got to spend three nights a week in Columbus. So, how does that work out for you? I waited until I was 48 and my kids were raised, and at least adults, before we took the opportunity to try.”
While more impatient people (like me) would have called him out on his antiquated views, Herold responded with tact and civility. Even if we may not have the same politics, I have to say I respect Herold. And to Representative Patton? You’re dumb.
