Alpha Mom recommends following the host’s suggestion of opening gifts at home with her husband as they receive them. No one expects you, the guest of honor, to drag a bunch of gifts with you to your shower, only to bring them home again. By opening gifts as you receive them, you can get your thank you notes sent right away to let the sender know you received the gift. Additionally, some guests choose to ship gifts directly to your house simply to make the day of your shower easier.
