The Big Thing You Miss When You Don’t Have a Daughter
While we can’t choose whether our babies are boys or girls, many mothers long for a child of a particular gender in order to share things that only they would understand. Men typically want boys they can be boys themselves with, and some women want girls in the hopes of someday sharing in the sacred mother-daughter rite where the daughter becomes a mother.
That’s how Wendy Wisner feels, and she shared her story in this article at Scary Mommy. She grew up surrounded by girls and has given birth to two boys she loves dearly, but she can’t shake the desire for a girl in order to help her through her own pregnancy and childbirth journey someday.
