Breastfeeding is the healthiest way to feed a newborn child. Workplace policies, however, do not always make it easy for breastfeeding mothers to remain attached to the labor force in the same capacity as equivalent men. In order to increase breastfeeding rates among mothers of newborn children, paid maternity leave, flexible scheduling and extra breaks to pump or breastfeed are necessary.
