Cheryl LaPorte was teaching a class at her Virgina high school, and when the topic turned to Arabic text, she provided samples for them to transcribe, all in the name of showing how intricate and precise the language is.

And then everything went nuts.

A number of parents sent hate filled e-mails and scornful calls, accusing the school district of indoctrinating their children, because that’s how indoctrination works apparently.

I… I’m sorry, this is just stupid. This is an overreaction, so severe that it forced the entire school district to close shop.

Ridiculous.
