Middle Schooler Suspended over Patriotic Shirt
This week, in “Sometimes People Are Just The Worst”, 13 year old Alan Holmes from Gresham, Oregon, has received a suspension for wearing a shirt bearing the “Battlefield Cross”. The cross is a memorial for fallen soldiers, and is made from a helmet, boots, and a rifle.
But the school decided it was inappropriate – somehow – and gave Alan the choice of taking the shirt off, receiving in-school suspension. Instead, Alan chose to go home, with the shirt still on. On top of that, Alan wears the shirt in-part because of his older brother, a former Marine who served in Iraq.
