The Latched Mama blog is where moms share what they wish someone had told them: about breastfeeding and pumping, pregnancy, birth and postpartum, the baby and toddler years, and the rest of mom life. Real stories, practical tips and plenty of encouragement, from moms who have been there.
Who we are
Latched Mama makes comfortable, affordable nursing clothes: everyday tops, dresses and rompers that make feeding a baby a little easier. Melissa Wirt started the company in the fall of 2014, after nursing her son on a cold playground bench with a sweatshirt zipper against his cheek and deciding there had to be a better way.
Melissa is a certified lactation counselor, a mom of six and the author of I Was Told There’d Be a Village (2025). The Latched Mama team is moms working from home, including birth and postpartum doulas and certified lactation counselors who answer breastfeeding questions by email. From the start the company has been about more than clothes: support and community for moms. This blog, The Latched Mama Podcast and our Facebook group, Latched Mama Love, are where that happens. You can read more on the shop’s Our Story page.
