Here’s one side effect you don’t expect when starting solids
Transitioning a baby from nursing to solid foods can cause some difficulties for both the mother and the baby. However, there are strategies that can be employed which will minimize the difficulties experienced by the baby.
First, be mindful to introduce only one new food at a time. Give the baby a few days to adjust, while the mother monitors their acceptance of the new dietary addition. Secondly, minimize the inclusion of acidic foods as these may accentuate diaper rash. And finally, related to the prior point, preemptively use diaper rash cream before the introduction of a new food as a preventative measure.
