Delayed cord clamping may have benefits for babies

Research has shown that delayed cord clamping could be beneficial to infants. Midwives, natural childbirth educators, and Bradley class instructors have recommended it for many years, but it has only recently been studied.

While it doesn’t seem to be harmful to clamp the cord early, letting it go for two minutes shows a reduction in oxidative stress in healthy newborns, which translates to anti-oxidant benefits.
